General Tour Questions
Q: What is your group admission rate?
A: $9.00 per person for groups of 15 or more — $1 off our senior/veteran rate.
Q: Do you offer self-guided options for groups?
A: Yes. Groups may explore on their own. Interpretive signs and panels are located throughout the museum.
Q: What is parking like?
A: Parking is managed by the Galveston Park Board and is not included with admission. Paid parking is required. You can view current rates and details HERE.
Q: How many people make a group?
A: A group is 15 or more people. Smaller groups pay regular admission unless booking a flat-rate package (see sleepover info below).
Q: What is the best time of day to visit?
A: Morning tours are best—especially in summer—to avoid heat and crowds. Tours are offered daily from 9:30 AM–4:00 PM.
Q: How is payment handled?
A: For guided tours and larger groups, a $50 deposit is required at booking. Payment methods include card (via invoice), mailed check, or cash. Final payment is due the day before your tour or sleepover unless arranged otherwise.
Q: Are guided tours available?
A: Yes! Trained docents lead engaging tours of the USS Cavalla and USS Stewart. Tours last 1.5–2 hours. Once your booking is confirmed, we’ll assign a docent.
Q: Are the ships wheelchair accessible?
A: Unfortunately, the WWII ships are not accessible due to their original design. However, the rest of the museum and outdoor exhibits are accessible. We can offer an alternative tour with a docent for guests unable to board the vessels.
Q: Can I schedule a visit during a special event?
A: Yes, but we recommend contacting us ahead of time to confirm availability, as docents or exhibit access may be limited during events.
